Jimmy Sullivan Obituary

Jimmy Claud Sullivan was born on April 25th, 1953 in Dekalb, TX.  He was the 5th child of 7 born to Luke and Claudie Sullivan.  Jimmy peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home at Lake O’ the Pines on Good Friday, April 19th, 2019.  He was surrounded in the love of his family and friends.  Jimmy will reunite in Heaven with his parents, Luther Luke and Claudie Marie Sullivan; 3 Sisters, Martha Royal, Mary Walton and Ruth Blalack and his older brother James Sullivan.  He leaves behind his beloved wife of 20 years, Penny Wyse; and 3 Daughters, Amanda Jay Postins and husband Josh Postins, Emmy Lou Spurger, Deana Marie Washington and husband Darren Washington and his Son Ricky Dean Marshburn and wife Jenna Marshburn.  Also he is survived by his Sister in Law, Debbie Sullivan; 2 Brothers, Frank Sullivan and partner Steve Ivie; Mark Sullivan and Patty Cox; 14 Grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends, especially his best friend since childhood, Gales “Tuggy” Adair and wife Mervilyn Adair.

Jimmy served his Country in the Navy during the Vietnam War.  He earned a National Defense Service Metal, a Vietnam Service Metal with one Bronze Star and a Combat Action Ribbon.  He chose the Navy because he would always have a hot meal, clean clothes and a warm bed.

Jimmy would light up any room with his presence.  If you didn’t know him before, you would be his friend when you left.  Jimmy’s love of music was infectious and he enjoyed singing and playing his Daddy’s guitar, entertaining his family and friends.  He enjoyed a good cold beer on the deck looking out at the lake and visiting with his “Lowtown” neighbors.  In his younger years Jimmy enjoyed throwing horseshoes and won many trophies including a 1st Place Trophy at Mom’s Biker Bar in Longview.  He loved fishing and NASCAR.  His Grandchildren were the light of his life.  He touched so many people with his heart, his smile and his love of life!  There was never a dull moment around Jimmy Sullivan.

Jimmy will be forever missed by all those who were blessed to have known him and he will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will be held at Ashley Mountain on Saturday, May 25th at 2 pm.  Pastor Richard Densman will be leading the memorial service.
