It was a cold yet beautiful day on Monday, January 15, 1951, when Georgia Mae Stephenson and Larry Prince, Sr., welcomed their baby girl, Alice Ruth Prince. Born and raised in the warm and nurturing city of Gilmer, Texas, Sis, as known by her family and friends, grew up to develop those same characteristics.
Sis was known city wide for her affectionate smile, welcoming spirit, and her willingness to always lend a helping hand. She was proud alumni of Gilmer High School, graduating with the class of 1969. Alice allowed her heart for others to lead her into the healthcare field after high school. She devoted 43 years to Gilmer Care Center and 4 years to Truman W. Smith. She was a devoted Certified Nursing Assistant who found great fulfillment in caring for others. Her warm smile, gentle touch, and unwavering dedication to her patients left a lasting impression on those she served. Sis's commitment to helping others reflected her kind and selfless spirit, and she brought comfort and support to countless individuals throughout her career.
She was a devoted and selfless mother, of four, who poured her heart and soul into ensuring her children were always cared for and loved. She went the extra mile in every way, whether it was working doubles at work, creating a warm and nurturing home, or offering guidance and support through life’s challenges. Her children were her greatest joy, and she dedicated her life to giving them the best possible foundation to thrive. Alice’s unwavering love and tireless efforts were a testament to her strength, compassion, and boundless generosity.
Nine minutes passed the third hour of the afternoon, on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Sis answered a call that could not be ignored. God graciously granted her the reward for the many years of her labor and there she found her eternal rest. Alice reunited with her parents and siblings, Larry Prince, Jr. and Billy Prince, Sr., upon her arrival.
A legacy of love, care, dedication, and devotion will be remembered by her children, Sholanda Lane, Toni Crump, Cortoney Prince, and Elvis Prince; sisters, Dianne Prince Stephenson and Yvonne Moore Hawkins; brother, Wayne Stephenson; grandchildren, Jaida Prince, Rylynd Prince, Jasmine Prince, Jameson Prince, Ciara Prince, Sah'hara Ford, Jairan Ford, Winter Walker, and Saeed Jones; special niece, Khadijah Anderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
