Reflection of Life

Anita Virginia Rucker Smith Black entered this world on October 8, 1936, in Houston, Texas, a blessed daughter of Rev. Ivory O. Rucker and Mrs. Ora L. Rucker. She graced Hawkins High School with her presence and pursued further learning, earning a license from Cosmetology School and Nan Travis Nursing School. Anita was embraced by the loving arms of the Lord, reunited with her parents, twin sister, Juanita Louise Rucker, brother, Ivory Oliver Rucker Jr, niece, Angela Rucker and sister-in-law, Blanche Rucker in eternal peace.

Anita's spiritual journey led her to worship at her father's sanctuaries, Fouke and Bethlehem Methodist Church in Hawkins, Texas. Following her relocation to Jacksonville, Texas, she then joined Churchill C.M.E. Church.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her cherished children - Tammie (Wilfred) McCullough of Jacksonville, TX, Micheal (Michelle) Smith of San Antonio, TX, and Delores (Asuquo) Inyang of Plano, TX;  In her embrace, 12 beloved grandchildren, Kerik Aldridge of Atlanta, GA, Kanoi Aldridge of Tyler, TX, Dawn Smith,  Darnell Smith and Dana Givner, all of San Antonio, TX, Brandy (Brian) Smith-Salley of White Plains, MD, Tiarazene Smith of Houston, TX, Sarah Inyang of Plano, TX, Christopher Nettles of Dallas, TX, and Idorenyin Inyang, Edidiong Inyang, Akanimoh Inyang, all of Richardson, TX; 10 precious great-grandchildren,  Donovan Aldridge, Kayla Aldridge of Augusta, GA, Jamereon Gates, KanTamia Gates of Tyler, TX, Ayden Salley, Zayden Salley, Brianna Salley, Yara Salley of White Plains, MD, and Michael Malone III, Samaya Malone of Plano, TX; Her niece and nephew Ava Rucker of Nashville, TN and Ivory Rucker III (Tre') of Atlanta, GA; great-niece Alana Rucker of Atlanta, GA; all mourn her passing, alongside her cousin Joe Swearingen in CA, and other dear relatives and friends.

Anita's life was a testament to faith, family, and kindness, and her memory will forever be treasured in our hearts. May she rest in the eternal embrace of our Lord.
