Life Reflections
Arline Jackson was born on March 28, 1937, in Hallsville, Texas, to the late Frank Johnson and Featta Shurne. She entered into eternal rest on April 23, 2025.
Arline worked as a waitress and cook, held various jobs in the community, and lovingly raised her family. At an early age, she joined and was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hallsville, Texas. She attended school in Hallsville Galilee. Later, she moved to Longview, Texas, and became a member of Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. During her time there, she served as an usher on the Usher Board.
Throughout her life, Arline was recognized for her devotion and service. She received the "Mother of the Most Children" award in May 2010, the "Oldest Mother" award in May 2011, and the "Lifetime Membership Award" in March 2012. In February 2013, she was honored with the "50 Years of Service" award titled May the Work I’ve Done Speak for Me. That same year, she received an honorary award from the Women’s Christian Ministry. In 2017, she was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Boys & Girls Town.
On December 2, 1974, she was united in marriage to Frank Jackson, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Johnson and Featta Shurne; her husband, Frank Jackson, Sr.; her granddaughter, Jessica Jackson; her sisters, Featta, Linnie, Mary, Louise, Texanna, and Hattie Marie; her brothers, Frank, Rufus, Money, L.C., and Lil Buddy; and her aunts, Ada and Hattie.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Venita and Arline of Longview, Texas; Joe Ann (Eddie) of Garland, Texas; Ular (Patrick) of Hallsville, Texas; Frank, Roosevelt, Mayo, and David Sr. (Adrienne), all of Longview, Texas. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
