Benita Washington Obituary

Benita Faye King Washington was born on July 4, 1957, in Longview, Texas, to the late Dan Christian and Esteen King, both of whom preceded her in death.

At an early age, Benita Faye accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with Parkview Baptist Church in Longview, where she began her lifelong journey of faith and service.

She was educated in the Longview Independent School District and proudly graduated from Longview High School in 1975. She later continued her education at Kilgore College, where she further developed her skills and passion for learning.

On June 21, 2000, Benita Faye was united in holy matrimony to James Washington, and together they shared many cherished years of love and companionship.

Throughout her life, Benita Faye was a dedicated and hardworking woman. Her professional journey included employment at the Resistol Hat Factory, Texas Education, and the United States Postal Service. She also pursued her entrepreneurial spirit as a Mary Kay consultant—something she deeply loved and found joy in. After many years of faithful service and hard work, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of diligence, kindness, and grace.

Benita Faye was preceded in death by her siblings Lavell Bridges and Sandra King.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband James Washington; her devoted sister Dannie Mae Coyle of Longview, Texas; her beloved niece Tyshatta Coyle Hope (Jason); nephews Carlus King and Roderick King, both of Longview, Texas; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever remember her warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering faith.

Benita Faye’s life was one of love, perseverance, and service. Though she has departed from this earthly life, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
