A Life Well-Lived
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be morning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away (Revelation 21:4). Our sister, friend, aunt, and cousin, Carmenia Jones Anderson, born May 18,1930 has gain eternal life.
Carmenia devoted her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church, Longview Texas. She later united with Red Oak Baptist Church. Always the faithful servant, she served in the Women’s Ministry, Sunday School and other ministries.
As a 1949 graduate of Ned E. Williams High School in Longview, Texas, she enrolled at Prairie View A&M University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, Education in 1953. As a retired elementary educator, she exemplified love of teaching and mentoring youth.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gatherings with friends and family. Some of her favorite experiences were attending a Broadway show in New York, taking in a concert in Las Vegas, and site-seeing/visiting family in Chicago.
CARMENIA pledged Alpha Gamma Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority in 1955 and remained active until her death. An association that was a natural fit for her love of scholarship, sisterhood and service. She loved attending sorority conferences all over the United States and frequently served as a delegate representing her local chapter.
CARMENIA was preceded in death by her father/mother, Earnest and Ethel Jones; and sister, Beverly Ann Jones. She leaves to mourn her passing brother, Earnest Jones (Juanita); four nephews, Michael Jones, Cedric Jones (Longview Texas), Cornelius Jones and David Jones (Houston Texas); cousins, Bobbie Dearion (Longview Texas), Herbert Jones (Seattle, Washington), Bernard Fletcher (Chicago, Illinois); and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and sorority sisters.
