Devita Rowlett-Allen Obituary

On June 2, 1975, Lonnie and Willie Kay Rowlett, Sr. welcomed their long “wished for” daughter, Devita Regina Rowlett, affectionately known to many as “Gina”.  She was the youngest of four children.

At an early age, Gina confessed her faith in Christ when she joined Willow Springs Baptist Church and was baptized.   She was faithful in many church activities such as the choir ministry and the usher board.

Gina was educated in Pine Tree ISD and was a graduate of Pine Tree High School, Class of 1993.  She loved sporting events, and even played basketball and volleyball.   Regina continued her education, and, in the Spring of 1996, she was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. through the Theta Gamma Chapter at Stephen F. Austin State University.   Gina graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from SFA.

In 1999, Gina was united in marriage to Ralph Wayne Allen, Sr.  Two vibrant twin boys that motivated her daily were born to this union.

Gina was employed by East Texas Council of Governments as the Workforce Systems Improvement Team Lead for 23 years.  She was well known and loved by many for her big heart and caring spirit.

She genuinely loved her friends, but family was everything.  She had so much grace that you just knew she was heaven sent.  One of her favorite past-times was shopping for shoes and purses!

Gina is preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Rowlett, Sr, and two brothers, Leonard Rowlett and Lonnie Rowlett, Jr.

Devita Regina Rowlett-Allen entered her eternal home on August 24, 2020 in Longview, Texas.

Everlasting memories will be treasured by her two sons, Jaylon Allen and Kaylon Allen; her mother, Willie Kay Thomas; one brother, Bryant Wayne Rowlett; one sister-in-love, Carla Pace-Rowlett; two nieces, JaKayla and Jasmine Rowlett; two god-daughters, Jay’la Taylor and Addison Lynch; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss her tremendously.
