Devora Gipson Obituary

Devora Chauntae Ray Gipson, was born on December 12, 1972, to the parentage of Robert Lyndon and Merilyn R. Ray. She was preceded in death by her father Robert.

Devora was baptized at an early age, at the Antioch Baptist Church in Midland, Texas where she first learned of God’s goodness. She sang in the children choir. In later years she united with St. James Baptist Church in Long Beach, California. Her family re-located to Los Angeles, California, where she joined the Gospel Temple Baptist Church of Los Angeles, California, under the leadership of the late Pastor Cedell Bush. She was a member of Sanders Temple of Overton, Texas until her passing.

Mrs. Gipson attended Starr King Elementary Schools in Long Beach, California. She was later transferred to Newcomb Magnet Elementary School in Cypress, California. Devora is a graduate of Jordan High School of Long Beach, California, as well as a graduate of Barbizon School of Modeling in Hollywood, California.

Everlasting memories will be treasured by the love of her life,  her husband, Sherman Gipson; her mother, Merilyn Ray; daughters, Precious Alexis Chauntae Atkins (Stinal), Diamond Gipson, and Fanta Costello; sons, Christopher F. Pinkney Jr. (Brandon Robertson Pinkney), and Jamarri Gipson; sister, Jackie L. Ingram, of Perris, California; sister in laws, Celeste (Leach), Rhonda Smith; brother in law, Fabian (Chess); parent in laws, Charles and Linda Gipson; grandchildren, Christopher Fitzgerald Pinkney, III., Lynden Love, Amore Paleema, Kaiylan, Khalia, Stina, III., and Keilah; nephews, Tra ‘Phunni’ Melton and Terrant Johnson; great niece, Almonice Melton; and a host of family and friends who will miss her tremendously.
