January 17, 1946 ~ November 18, 2023 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Eddie Camp, Sr. Obituary

Eddie Ray (“Daddy”) (“Pops”) Camp entered this world on January 17, 1946, to Ector Harvey and Ada Victoria Camp. He was born in Louisiana and later raised in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Madison High School. Prior to graduating, Eddie met the love of his life, Linda Carol Gamble, and began dating her sophomore year. They enjoyed going to the Matinee to watch movies and Six Flags on Sundays. They wed as a young couple in 1965 and remained married for over 58 years. Eddie was a man of high values, strong morals, and a great work ethic. He always had a plan and was willing to assist when needed. He was a great human who cared for others. He is referred to as the “Rock” of his family and community. He was always available to listen, give advice, and encourage those in need. Eddie was fun to be around. He loved good music and meaningful conversations.

Eddie and Linda Camp are lifelong members of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church. Eddie has faithfully served in the male chorus and actively participated in the Senior Ministry and Adult Sunday School Department.

On November 18, 2023, Eddie passed peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children.  While his hands rested in theirs, his soul was lifted by God. His brief, but aggressive battle with cancer ended. Eddie was removed from potential pain and suffering to be placed in an everlasting state of euphoria. Yes, he lost the battle, but won the war!

Eddie was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Theodore Camp; and his father, Ector Harvey Camp.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gamble Camp; 93-year old mother, Ada Camp; four devoted children, Eddie (Moneque) Ray Camp, Jr., Leticia Derricks-Davis, Nichelle (Thomas) Harris, and Nikeesia (Larry) Ranson; two bonus daughters, Celethia Reed and Cynthia Pennywell; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 7 brothers, 3 sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him!
