A life well lived
Emerson Ates Tucker Jr., a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and husband, passed away at the age of 41. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on July 20, 1984, in Tyler, Texas, Emerson was the son of the late Emerson Ates Sr. and Rosie Lee Tucker. From a young age, he was a devoted member of New Holland's Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a junior deacon. He pursued higher education at Texas College in Tyler, TX, and Trinity Valley Community College in Terrell, TX. Throughout his career, Emerson dedicated himself to serving others in a variety of meaningful roles. Basketball was Emerson's lifelong passion.
Whether playing in a competitive game or shooting hoops with friends, his enthusiasm was infectious and brought people together. Yet, it was his deep love for family and community that truly defined him. Emerson was known for his kind heart, radiant smile, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Affectionately known as Pooh Willie, Darling, and The Amazing Ates, Emerson is lovingly remembered by his wife, Alexis Tucker, and his stepchildren, Demetrius Hicks (Qimani) and Ladarius Hicks. He is also survived by his sisters, Tera Tucker Sanders, Tiya Tucker Kay (Roderick), and Tira Ates, all of Tyler; his brothers, John Tucker of Waxahachie, Kelvin Ates of Tyler, and Lamont Ates of Chapel Hill; his godfather, Lamar Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Emerson Ates Sr. and Rosie Lee Tucker, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents. The family invites all who knew and loved Emerson to join them in celebrating his life, honoring his memory, and continuing his legacy of joy, compassion, and authenticity.
