Etta Joyce (Washington) Newhouse

Etta Joyce Washington was born on September 27, 1947 to Clifton Washington Sr. and Christella Washington.

She attended school in Longview, Texas before moving to Dallas, Texas at a young age. There she married Robert Thompson and spent many years working for the Marriott hotel chain.

Joyce leaves to cherish her memory, sisters Barbara Lewis, Alice Faye Smith, Pearl McGuirt and Mildred Washington; brothers Donald Ray Maxey, and loving brother and caregiver James Washington; loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Thompson, sister Lucy Christian, brothers Elzie Byrd Jr., Billy Washington and Clifton Washington Jr.

Joyce was fun loving and took each day as it came. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was funny and never missed an opportunity to share a laugh.

Joyce will be missed by her family and all those that knew her.

She departed her earthly body on Friday, January 22, 2021.
