Evelyn Jean Norris-Chapple, affectionately known to many as “Jean”, was born to the parentage of the late Alex Johnson and Connie Mae Norris on May 29, 1951 in Longview, Texas.
She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Eastside Christian Church. Jean received her formal education in Longview Schools and graduated from Mary C. Womack High School, Class of 1969. She went on to obtain her License of Cosmetology and continued studies in Business Management through Kilgore College.
Jean was employed by South Ward Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide and later became a Certified Social Worker for Sabine Valley Regional MHMR Center. She loved being with her family! She was kind-hearted and had a passion for children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers: Thomas Norris, Sr., Joe Wayne Langston, Ulysses Johnson, Sr., Willie Johnson, Morice Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Frank Johnson, Dennison Johnson and Benny Johnson; and five sisters: Ethel Winston, Bernice McGrue, Thelma Key, Velma Brown and Virginia Boyd.
Evelyn Jean Norris-Chapple moved into a brand new life on Friday, April 16, 2021. She now has a new walk, a new talk, a new look and a new name over in glory and will be greatly missed.
Jean leaves to cherish many precious memories two brothers: Harvey J. Norris (Kayette) of Longview, TX and Alex Johnson Jr of Fort Worth, TX; four sisters: Ruby Tucker of Chicago, IL, Annie Tarver of Los Angeles, CA, Lethia Isabel (Columbus) of Missouri City, TX, and Mary Marshall of Fort Worth, TX; one sister-in-law: Lazza Norris of Longview, TX; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and dear friends.
