Gerald Porter Obituary

Gerald Wayne was the second child born to Revis and Eva Porter on February 14, 1949, in Jacksonville, Texas.

Gerald accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was still working for the Lord in his golden years in the Pine Grove Community with the Pennel Chapel Church. His many areas of service were board of Trustee, Sunday School teacher, member of the financial board, Steward board, and President of the Pine Grove Community committee.

Gerald attended school in the Jacksonville area and graduated from Fred Douglass High School in 1967. He also attended T.S.T.C in Waco, Texas. In 1968, Gerald was called to duty in the army.

On October 1, 1969, Gerald married Annie Mallard and to this union three children were born. They were married for 54 years.

Gerald lived his entire life in the Pine Grove Community. He enjoyed farming, selling timber, raising cattle, playing dominos as well as cooking on the grill. He was the young version of Red Porter. During the off seasons, he would go into normal work mode at various companies in Jacksonville.

Gerald transitioned from his earthy life at 2:30 am, Thursday, December 28, 2023.

He was well loved by his community, friends, and family.
