Gregory Wayne Carter

Gregory 'Wayne' Carter was born on April 24, 1953, in Longview, Texas to G.W. Carter and Mildred Louise Medlock Carter, his mother the love of his life and his personal "SHERO".

At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He became a christian by faith and baptism and was a member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Longview, Tx. Wayne graduated from Longview High School and then joined the US Navy in 1971. He made Durham, NC his home. At the time of his departure from his earthly home he was employed by Durham Public Schools in North Carolina.

Wayne is preceded in death by his loving mother Mildred Carter; brother Charles Earl Williams; sisters Helen Joyce Williams and Robbie Bush Busby.

He leaves to cherish his memories, son Ian Matthew Smith-Carter; brother Bobby [Tanya] Bush of Sacramento, CA.; sister Renee [Lee] Carter Wiley of Longview, Tx.; brother Darrell Lynn Carter Sr. of Houston, Tx.; and little sister Veronica 'Ronnie' Carter Williams of Longview, Tx.; his best friend/cousin Charles Williams of Houston, Tx.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
