Mr. Henry Dixon, lovingly known as “Poppa,” was born in Longview, Texas, on July 16, 1948 to Grady Dixon and Margie Willis Dixon, and later made his home in Pleasant Hill on the Ridge, where he was raised, by his grandmother, Eula Nelson Willis, who preceded him in death, and lived a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and fellowship.
He graduated from Mary C. Womack High School in 1968, the same year he married the love of his life, Annie Jewel Dixon, on September 6, 1968. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love and devotion for 57 years.
Henry was a hardworking and faithful provider. He was a welder and manual machinist. He retired from A&E Machine Shop after more than 20 years of service. A proud member of the East Texas Truckers, he loved antique cars and trucks, enjoyed hunting, and cherished time playing dominoes with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Annie Jewel Dixon; his daughter, Brenda Dixon (Shawn); and his special son nephew, Terry Dixon (Karen).
His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Bre’Anna Bradley, Vincent Bradley; great granchildren, Honesty Bradley-Brown, Adrian “Bubba” Bradley, Brielle Evers, and Brooklyn Evers.
He is also survived by his brothers, Grady Dixon Jr. (Lillie Mae), Curtis Dixon, Douglas Dixon, Earlie Dixon (Tracy), Sherman Willis Dixon, and Richard Odom; his sisters, Sheniqua Dixon, Debra Pruitt, and LaJean Dixon-Johnson (Glenn); his step-mother, Ivy Nell Dixon; and step- siblings, Duane Alexander (Kindra), Bobby Ray Jackson, Eddie King Jr., Ray King, Shirley King, Evelyn Whitten, Virginia Gilbert, Linda Ayers, and Melba Johnson.
