Herman Moore Sr., was born Dec 6, 1921 in Smith County to the late Scott Sr. and Amanda Moore. He attended Winona Industrial School and joined the army in 1944.
Herman married Amie Mae Jackson on February 8, 1939 to which 9 children were born. Two sons preceded him in death, Charles Moore and Samuel Moore.
He had a long work history. He stayed for a short time in California as a supervisor at Caltex, building boat covers for the army. He returned home and worked in a warehouse doing upholstering furniture. He then went to work for continental can company (stone container) where he worked and retired after 27 years of service.
He was the last child of 11 children. He was precede in death by his wife, Annie Mae Moore; brothers, Scott Moore Jr. Umbrie, J.B., Plummer, Edward, and Jimmy; sisters, Louise, Ruth, Fariest, and Easter.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Anderson, Cleo and Herman Jr. (Pat); daughters, Eula Wells, Ruthie Clay, Gwendolyn Cuba, and Nancy (William) Franklin; and a host of Grand, Great Grand, and Great-Great grandchildren.
