Herman Thomas Obituary

In Loving Memory of Herman Ray Thomas

Herman Ray Thomas, a devoted father, cherished brother, loyal friend, and proud veteran, entered into eternal rest surrounded by love and peace.

Born and raised with strong values and a kind heart, Herman attended Mary C. Womack High School, where he built lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for the remarkable man he would become. In 1976, he proudly answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army as a Hercules Missile Crewman. His dedication, discipline, and sense of duty were evident throughout his service. He retired with the honorable rank of PV1 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal in recognition of his commitment.

Herman’s life was marked by quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Betsy Mae Thomas and Ira Thomas, and his siblings Floyd Thomas, Lloyd Thomas, Johnnie Johnson, Georgia Johnson, Patsy Johnson, and H. Jr. Thomas.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories in the hearts of his children, Marlon Thomas, Kevin (Amber) Thomas, and LaKeish (Willie) Lynch, all of Longview. He also leaves his dear siblings, Carolyn Thomas and Elaine Thomas Smith (Willie); his best friend, James Wright; and a proud legacy through his 15 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Herman’s life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and faith. Though his earthly journey has ended, his spirit will live on in every heart he touched. His memory will forever inspire us to love more deeply, serve more willingly, and live with purpose.

"Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord."

— Matthew 25:23
