Isai Cerritos Obituary

Isai Cerritos was born to Felipe Cerritos and Yasmin Valdez on January 9, 1997, in the city of Fort Worth, Texas. He was living in Missouri City, Texas, when he passed on June 30, 2024.

Isai Cerritos is survived by his parents, Felipe Cerritos and Yasmin Valdez; stepparents, Guadalupe Cerritos and Ricardo Mena; grandparents, Silviano Sanchez Cerritos, Jose Marin Valdez, and Aurora Tellez; siblings, Jonathan Cerritos, Marithza Mena, Felipe Cerritos Jr., Rogelio Mena, David Mena, Juan Antonio Cerritos, and Angel Cerritos; and too many cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family to count.

Isai Cerritos served as Military Police for the Army Reserves. He served Active Duty in Kuwait from Sept. 15, 2019 to Sept. 24, 2019, which he was then transferred to Saudi Arabia to serve from Sept. 25, 2019 to July 21, 2020. He received many decorations and medals, including: Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ M Device.

Although Isai was very proud of his military service, he would have much rather spent his time being home and playing video games with his siblings and cousins. He loved learning languages, and could speak English, Spanish, French, German, and was learning Mandarin and Hakka. His love for learning led him to continue to pursue education through NCTC, where he was going for a bachelor’s in accounting, to then ultimately achieve a masters. Isai also loved music, learning to play the piano on his own when he was just 7 years old. He eventually attended classes to learn to play it in a more traditional style.

However, the one thing that Isai was most known for was his physical fitness. Ever since he grabbed his first barbell, Isai loved lifting weights. In high school, he competed in powerlifting reaching all the way to the State competition his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. He then continued to excel, by achieving beyond perfect scores in physical exams during his training in the Army and graduating with honors for his excellence. During his military service, he competed in more powerlifting competitions that were unfortunately cut short due to Covid.

Isai Cerritos was many things to the people in his life, and he enjoyed many hobbies, but above all Isai was an inspiration. A beacon of light, joy, and hope to all his family and friends. His intellect and determination gave motivation to his younger siblings that one day, they could become something great. The joy he brought everyone was so immense, that just entering a room would cause people’s faces to smile and laugh, just being happy to see him. His laugh and smile were so infectious that it was impossible not to smile and laugh with him. All his friends and family couldn’t wait for his next visit, and everyone anticipated his arrival.

Isai’s kindhearted and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him. A great and loving son, he will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
