James W. Redden, Sr., affectionately known to many as “The Watch Man,” was born on March 26, 1938, in Smackover, Arkansas, to the late Will and Ophelia Redden. On October 14, 2025, he peacefully transitioned from this life to be with the Lord.
James received his education in Longview, Texas, where he later built a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Wilma Redden, who preceded him in death December 3, 2021.
James was a highly sought-after contracted painter, known for his precision, dedication, and pride in every project he touched. Beyond his work, he was a man of unique style and character, best known for his unusual love of watches and clocks, often wearing several at once, each one a reflection of his personality and timeless spirit.
James also had a passion for traveling, embracing life’s adventures and the beauty of the world around him.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory HIS ONLY GIRL, Teresa L. Horton; his sons, James Redden, Jr. (Theda), Scottie Redden, and Kenneth Redden (Rhonda); siblings, Bobby and Billy White and Opal Carter; a host of beloved grandchildren, Kortney (Lauralyn), LaPorsha, Marwill III, Payton, Quory, Jessica, Nicholas, Chelsea, Marce, Qwamaine, Jasmine, Jacoby, ShaHarmony, and Kenesha.Siblings; and a host of other relative and loved ones.
