Jerry "3J" Johnson, Jr., was the 3rd child born to Jerry and Gladys (Walker) Johnson, Sr., on February 8, 1995 in Tyler, Texas. His daddy affectionately started calling him "3J' and the nickname stuck with him.
He attended the Whitehouse High School where he played football and in the band; he graduated in 2013. After graduation he realized his lifelong dream was becoming an Airman in the United States Air Force. His primary specialty was Security Forces. He graduated Security Forces School on July 14, 2014 from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. In the Air Force "3J' was recognized with the AF Outstanding Unit Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the AF Good conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War of Terrorist Service Medal, the Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal with the 'N' Device, the AF Longevity Service, and the AF Training Ribbon. After five and a half years of service, he separated from the military with an Honorable Discharge.
"3J" attended the Community College of Air Force and Kilgore College. He worked in the retail industry while making preparations to attend engineering school. He wanted to be a chemical engineer; that aspiration was cut short with his untimely death.
"3J" obeyed the gospel at the North Tenneha Church of Christ on February 5, 2012, where he was a faithful member until his death.
"3J" was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Lena (Abron) Johnson; maternal grandparents, R.L. and Sammie (Nathaniel) Walker; along with several uncles and aunts.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his parents, Jerry and Gladys Johnson, Sr. of Whitehouse; sisters, Shayla Johnson of Tyler, Nakisha (Michael) Jones of Tyler, and Ta'Lena Johnson of Whitehouse; a special nephew, "Baby" Mike Jones, a special niece, Harmoni Jones; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
