John’s Life Reflections

John L. Daniels Jr. was born on December 27, 1936, in Longview, Texas to the loving parents, John L. Daniels, Sr. and Edith Daniels.

John graduated from Ned E. Williams High School in 1954. He enlisted into the United States Navy, in honor of his father, serving 8 years. After leaving the Navy, he later attended Mountain View College where he studied Business Management.

John joined Metropolitan Baptist Church and Household of Faith, where his spirit of service and devotion to the Lord became evident. He faithfully served as a deacon and church treasurer.

John worked as a Director of Quality Control for the United States Postal Service and later retired after 35 years of service. While working at the Bulk Mail Center, he met the love of his life, Virginia Daniels. They were married on April 13, 1979, and shared a beautiful life together for 46 blissful years.

He was preceded in death by his father, John L. Daniels, Sr.; his mother, Edith Daniels; his son, Jeffery Michael Clark; his brothers, Murrey Daniels and Cleophus Daniels; and his sister, Essie Williams.

John leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Virginia Daniels; six children, Michael Watson, Odette Griffis (Thomas), Daryl Daniels (Patrice), Darnell Daniels, Patrick Antonio Daniels (Diedra), and John L. Daniels, III; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brothers, Ronald Daniels (Maschell), Donald Daniels (Yemaya); his sisters, Marcia Marcellus, Susie Hester, and Edith Patillo.
