John Deonard Harris, was born on September 15, 1972, in Longview, Texas, to the parentage of Bonnie Ray Harris and Carolyn Harris. They were overjoyed and blessed to welcome their firstborn child, a healthy baby boy. Later in life as a toddler, John was embraced into the loving care of his second mother, Juanita Harris, uniting two families into one. Through this union, John became both a big brother to some and a little brother to others, forming strong bonds that would last a lifetime.
John's outgoing and boisterous personality made him truly one of a kind. He was the life of any gathering someone whose presence could light up a room. Well known and loved by many, John left a lasting impression on everyone he met and was never easily forgotten.
He attended Longview schools and was a proud Lobo. During his school years, he was an active member of the JROTC, where he demonstrated discipline and pride. After completing his education, John worked in a variety of fields. He served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at several Assisted Living Facilities, where his caring and nurturing spirit made him a valued and compassionate caregiver to his patients. John also had a deep passion for cooking, which led him to work in several restaurants over the years, sharing his love of food with others.
Eventually, John chose to spread his wings and explore new opportunities, relocating to Hot Springs, Arkansas, which he made his home. There, he built a new extended family and formed meaningful friendships. Many in Hot Springs became like brothers and sisters to him, and the love they shared was mutual and genuine.
At the time of his sudden illness, John was employed at the Embassy Suites Hilton in Hot Springs Arkansas. Due to the severity of his condition, he was no longer able to continue working. However, he was blessed with the opportunity to return to Texas, where he was able to visit and spend precious and meaningful time with his family.
On March 15, 2026, John answered the Lord's call. He had previously stated to his mother that he was tired and departed this life in Hot Springs, Arkansas, leaving his family and friends devastated at this sudden loss. John was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his sister, Tisha George; his brother, Kenneth E. Harris; several aunts and uncles; and his second mother, Juanita Harris.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Bonnie Ray Harris; his mother and stepfather, Carolyn Gentry (Duane); 11 brothers, James Harris (Takara), Brandy Harris (Debbie), Michael George (Bre), Anthony Lemicy, Dawaylon Gardener (Denise), Takoda Harris (Trista), Skyler Harris, Calvin Hutchings (Theresia), Kelvin Hutchings (Jacquel), Janeiro Duffie (Shanna), and Gene Duffie; 4 sisters, Sabrina Scott, Keima Murray (Jerry), Sierra Harris, and a very special sister, Tammy Morris (JW), whom he lovingly referred to as his other mother.
Although John had no children of his own, he was lovingly surrounded by a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who brought him as much joy as he brought to them. He is also survived by two aunts, one uncle, a host of cousins, his extended Hot Springs, Arkansas family and friends, and his special friend, Francy Toliver.
John's life was filled with love and laughter, there was never a dull moment. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
