John D. Hutchings, Jr.

John D. Hutchins, Jr. was born on October 18, 1942 in Longview, Texas to John Hutchings Sr. and Ruth J. Hutchings. He departed this life on Tuesday August 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by both parents.

John was a 1960 graduate of Mary C. Womack High School and attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas majoring in electronics. John had worked as an electrician for over forty years with the last sixteen years as an inspector with the Texas Department of Agriculture. He was fond of sports and especially enjoyed time spent coaching city league football.

He united with the Pleasant Green Church at an early age. During his Christian walk, he served as an ordained deacon, Sunday School teacher, and a devoted member of the Envangelism team. He completed his Christian journey at the Red Oak Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by spouse of 47 years, Claire Cameron Hutchings; daughters Gretchen Pippins [Sherlock] , and Cara; sons Cameron Amond [Veronica], Cory Alan, Charles Anthony [Andy]; grandchildren Chantrel, Jalon, Coshyra, Ju'Varrs, Cameron, Gabrielle, Aniyah; great grandchildren Jayden and Ja'Travian; sister Patricia , stepmother Robbie Brooks, and many relatives and friends.
