Jonathan embodied love, dedication, and resilience throughout his life. Raised in Marshall, Texas, he graduated from Marshall High School in 1977. He later attended Panola College, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding Technology.
He began his welding career at Eastman Chemical Plant in Longview, Texas, and later worked at Georgia Pacific, now known as Domtar, in Ashdown, Arkansas. His love for his family was evident in the way he provided for and supported them, always putting their needs first.
While living in Longview, Jonathan met the love of his life, Cathy Perkins. They were united in marriage on September 8, 1984, and shared a beautiful life together for over four decades.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Alvin Perkins, and his mother, Dr. Ethel Lee Duncan.
Jonathan leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cathy Perkins; four children: Segandra Jones, Shalonda Jones, Sharee Perkins, and Jonathan Louis Perkins Jr.; five grandchildren: Japperion Keppard, Angell Keppard, Tatiana Keppard, Hope Jones, and Mekkiyah McLemore; and two great-grandchildren, Aubrie and Hezekiah.
