Johnny Davis Obituary

Brother Johnny Ural Davis was born to the union of Leroy Sr. and Nelwyn (Portley) Davis on September 4, 1948, in Longview, Texas.  He attended Mary C. Womack and graduated in 1967.

Brother Davis was united in holy matrimony to the late Linda Taylor on September 3, 1967. Twelve children were born to this union. The couple were happily married for forty-four years. Shortly after marrying, Brother Davis accepted Christ and was baptized at Fleming Street Church of Christ where he served as minister for several decades until his health failed.

Brother Davis was a very skillful worker during his tenure at Standard Tools, Custom Fab, Aaon, Target, and as a taxi driver.  He later retired from Kilgore Plumbing where he worked for over 30 years. He studied and graduated from the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program at Kilgore College. In addition, he pursued classes in biblical studies.

Brother Davis was very dedicated to the service of the Lord ministering in nursing homes, hospitals, jails, and the community.

One of Brother Davis's greatest joys was his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and often talked about the Bible and the importance of staying faithful to God. He enjoyed bike riding and even riding his motorcycle when he was younger. He was very knowledgeable in mechanics and various tools. Brother Davis loved the Lord and was a blessing to all he met. He will be greatly missed for his kind heart and strong spirit.

Brother Davis was preceded in death by his late wife Linda; daughter, April; sons, Stephen, Danny, and Cedric; parents, Leroy Sr. and Nelwyn Davis; and his siblings, Marie, Leroy Jr., Carolyn Jean, and Alline.

Brother Davis's memories will be cherished and always remembered by daughters, Ashley Davis, Faith Davis, and Hope (Terry) Okray all of Shreveport, Louisiana, Melissa (Fredrick) Moore of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Marion (Michael) Henry of Longview, Texas; sons, Brandon (Brittany) Davis of Lewisville, Texas, Jason (Yolanda) Davis and Eric (Christie) Davis all of Longview, Texas; brother, Kent Davis of Longview, Texas; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Davis of Kilgore, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Ashuntee, Cameron (Catelyn), Jordon, Devares (Koya), Jahleel, Cedric Jr., Kedric, Taylor, Jeremy (Priscilla), Jessica, Michala and Michael Jr.; 6 great grandchildren, Adina, Stephen, London, Kalani, Aliyah and Roman; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
