Mr. Lawrence C. Bowman "Fat Daddy" was born on January 20, 1947 in Athens, Texas (Henderson County) to Bertha Mae Steverson and Albert Bowman. On January 29, 2021 he heard the master's call, and transitioned from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by both parents.
He received his education at Athens Fisher School, and upon completion he began his career in law enforcement seeking employment with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, the Athens Fire Department. Leaving Athens and joining the force with Ft. Worth PD.
Realizing catching bad guys wasn’t his forte’. Lawrence later began working for Union Pacific Railroad where he remained employed for 25 yrs retiring in 1997 as an Engineer. He was a long time member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in his younger years and in latter years he became a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Chandler. Where he served faithfully until his health failed.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: Daughters and son-in-laws; Felicia & Gary Allen of Coffee City; Candice & Ricardo Jones of Grand Prairie. His bonus son he raised, Mack Holiday of Fort Worth. Grandkids: Ryan Cook; Ashley, Arrington & Anayiah Holiday, Marquis Kameron & Christian Jones. His only great grandchild, Chanthony Cook. Only brother Joe Nelson Bowman, Ft. Worth. A sister in love, Linda Heath-Smith, Dallas. One Niece Jessica Bowman, One nephew Stacey Collins. Many Cousins and extended family.
