Loretta Faggans Obituary

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.  ~ Proverbs 31:31

Loretta Faye Faggans was born July 16, 1955 in Longview, TX to the parentage of Raymond Hyder and Dorothy M. Faggans. Ms. Faggans gained her wings on Friday, November 22, 2024 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Her faith never wavering, she fought all the way to the end.

Loretta attended Longview High School and received her GED while in Job Corps. She later went to Kilgore College and obtained her LVN license in 1999. This was one of her proudest accomplishments.

Loretta accepted Christ as her personal Lord & Savior and joined St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Earl Dean Sibley. She later joined Restoration Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Harvel Davis serving faithfully as Women’s Ministry president until her health began to fail. Loretta loved her pastor and church family. Even during her difficult days, she would still be calling and asking, “Can you help me with my self-denial?”

Loretta was employed by several local long term care facilities during her career with her first being Cleaver Memorial Convalescent Center for over 16 years where she started as a CNA and ended as a Certified Activity Director with several others in between. Her last being Highland Pines Nursing and Rehab as a LVN for over 13 years until her health began to fail. Loretta was a loyal, dedicated and caring nurse always making sure her patients were well taken care of and loved. She often went to visit and volunteer even after she was no longer employed.

Loretta was an amazing cook and was always calling people over to hang out and enjoy a hot, delicious home cooked meal. She was a giver asking nothing in return but a quick run to the store. She enjoyed playing online dominoes daily with her longtime friend, Willie Brooks.

Loretta was an avid supporter for many years of the local city and travel league pool teams having been a member of the Tuxedo Players, LaKrystle Posse’ and the Dallas/Houston/Longview pool teams. She enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie often helping to plan the yearly family picnics and the Christmas annual. But her favorite being Sunday fellowship dinners at the end of the tournaments and traveling to the tournaments with Freddie Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an uncle Otis Jones whom she cared for in her home and brother, Reagan Menefee.
