Lynette York Obituary

Lynette May York, born Lynette Boese, of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed away on August 9th, 2021.

Lynette was born on May 25, 1945 in Storm Lake, Iowa.  She grew up on her parents’ farm in Grant Township, Iowa.  Her memories of childhood included a myriad of chores on the farm but also beating branches of mulberry trees to catch falling berries to enjoy while giant cottonwood trees rustled in the wind. She graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School in 1963.

On October 30, 1966, Lynette was united in marriage to Randy G. York of Sioux City, Iowa.  She and Randy - and in time, their growing family - were fortunate enough to live in many places across the country due to Randy’s career including Sioux City, Iowa; Norfolk, Nebraska; Omaha, Nebraska; Olathe, Kansas; Lawton, Oklahoma; and Portland, Oregon.  They later settled in Waco, Texas, spent a brief time in College Station, Texas and, finally, at their beautiful lakefront home in Mount Pleasant, Texas.  Lynette and Randy raised three children, Justin, Jamie, and Josh, all given names starting with "J" in memory of her older brother Jerry.

Lynette loved gardening and the outdoors, baking delicious treats, solving puzzles, playing poker, and cheering for Baylor Lady Bears basketball.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving husband of 55 years, Randy York; two older sisters, Beverly Glienke and Barbara Posivio; three children, Justin York (Danielle), Jamie Brunson (Ed), and Josh York (Katie); three grandchildren, Kelsi Brunson, Sydney Brunson, and Landon York; and one great-grandchild, Kenzie Duncan.

Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, Merlyn and Evelyn (Lange) Boese, and her brother, Jerald Boese.
