Mary Elizabeth (Nolan) Taylor

May 16, 1944 ~ May 24, 2022 (age 78)

Obituary

Mary was born, in Longview, Texas, on May 16, 1944, to Louella McKinley and Fred Nolan.  On July 5, 1960, Mary was united in marriage to Charles A. Taylor, to that union three children were born, Charles D. Taylor (1961), Ronald E. Taylor (1962), and Tari Y. Lucky (1964).

At an early age, Mary embraced her God given gift of singing and accepted Christ through baptism.  She used her voice to uplift and glorify Jesus Christ.  Her faithfulness to Christ lead Mary to form the gospel group, the Singing Sisters in the early 70s.  For three decades, they traveled to many states using their voices to praise God in song.

Mary’s love for Christ and her desire for servitude led her to volunteering and dedicating herself to a multitude of causes and ministries, such as Longview Symphony (board member), Longview Women’s Bowling Association (Board Member), Longview Community Ministries Food Box (Volunteer), East Cotton Puppet Ministry (Director and Organizer), East Cotton Senior Bible Class and Luncheon (Leader and Organizer), Galilee Senior Fitness Team (Leader), Cub Scout Den Mother (Volunteer), CUEA After School Tutoring Program (Director), Golden Girls Pageant (Creator), and Hair and Beauty Expo (Creator).

Mary worked as a sales associate, at Dillard’s department store, for over 20 years where she was a top performer; earning multiple Pacesetter sales awards.  After retirement, Mary became a business owner (Hair Images Salon-Longview, TX), and she continued to maintain her devotion to servitude.  She was an active and current member of Union Church of Christ (Longview, Texas). Mary leaves a legacy of always putting God first, serving others with a humble, sincere, and compassionate spirit.

Mary is survived by Charles A. Taylor, her husband of 61 years; her children and grandchildren, Charles D. Taylor (Tiffany), Ronald J. Taylor and Alayne E. Taylor (Ronald E. Taylor-Deceased), and  Tari Y. Lucky (Curtis (SP), Corwin, Trevor); her siblings, Edward Nolan (Betty (SP), William, LaQueta, Edward), Lacy Burton (Lavonne (SP), Michael, Braylon), Charlotte Larkin (William (SP), Candace, Jarrett, Leif, Lauren, Caleb, Christopher), and Dwight Sirls (Velyncia (SP), Stephanie, Jasmine, Khary); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, Fred Nolan and Louella McKinley; grandparents Matthew and Viola McKinley; aunts, Dorothy McKinley, Novella McKinley, and Ola Mae Smith; uncle, Will Henry McKinley; and son, Ronald E. Taylor.
