Michael D Mitchell, Jr.

Michael Dewayne Mitchell, Jr., born on May 31, 1979, in Marshall, Texas, was the second oldest child of Marie Garrett and Michael Mitchell, Sr.

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Michael peacefully crossed the threshold from this life into eternity, stepping into the presence of the Lord to receive his heavenly crown.

He received his education in the Marshall Independent School District and, from a young age, accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Michael was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Spiritual Church #2 in Marshall, Texas, where he served faithfully by playing the drums and singing in the choir, offering his gifts in praise and worship.

Michael now rests alongside his beloved grandparents, Margaret Jones and Cedell Mitchell; his great-grandparents, Ozell Jones, Mary Jones, and Mary Wilson; and his uncles, Benny Jones and Marlon Jones.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with those who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Marie Garrett (Ronald) and Michael Mitchell, Sr. (Gloria); his grandparents, Billie Pollard (John) and Mary Louise Mitchell; and his siblings, Gawaine Mitchell (Amanda), Lekendrick Jones (Mevelyn), Johnathan Jones, Lil Mike Mitchell, Marisha Mitchell, Tawanka Turner, Tawakonie Garrett, Nia Garrett, and Ronald Garrett, Jr.

Michael's memory will live on in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who were blessed by his presence, kindness, and love.
