Michael Kimon Rigsby
Michael Kimon Rigsby was born on September 10, 1998, in Texarkana, Texas, to Todd Watson and Kim Cooks Collins. Even as a small child, it was clear that he was set apart. By the age of three, Michael was preaching to anyone who would listen. By six, his hands were already at home on the drums, piano, and organ. The gift was evident—and he carried it with grace beyond his years.
In his hometown, Michael quickly became a musical phenom. His talent, discipline, and heart earned him a reputation of respect and admiration. By the age of 14, he wasn't just playing—he was teaching and encouraging other young musicians to grow. He was soft-spoken but direct. Honest and steady, with a calm confidence that never needed to announce itself.
Michael’s musical journey was nurtured in the church. As a young boy, he served faithfully at Bible Way Ministries, Christ Nations Church, and St. Paul Baptist Church, where his gift was both encouraged and refined. At just 16 years old, he began playing for Mt. Grove Baptist Church, where he remained until the age of 22, when he set out on a new journey in Frisco, Texas.
He also loved basketball and played throughout grade school and high school. Whether on the court or behind the keys, Michael gave his best—focused, committed, and full of quiet fire.
As a musician, Michael was deeply respected. He was proficient as a sound engineer and steadily growing as a producer and arranger. He traveled across the country, playing for churches, choirs, and live performances. Most recently, he served as a musician on tour with R&B artist Dave Hollister.
At The Bridge Frisco, Michael was more than just talented—he was faithful. A consistent, dependable member of the band, he showed up early, knew his parts, and brought a spirit of humility and excellence every time. He worked hard, remained teachable, and genuinely loved the people he served alongside.
But above all, Michael was a father. His six-year-old son, Kimon, was his greatest joy. If you saw Michael, you likely saw Kimon nearby—at rehearsals, sound checks, or sitting close by with a game on his dad’s second phone. Their bond was real and strong, and it left an impression on everyone who witnessed it.
Michael lived a life full of purpose, sound, and sincerity. His presence was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt. On the morning of Sunday, June 22, 2025, Michael was absent from soundcheck—but present with the Lord. Heaven called, and he answered with the same readiness he showed us all his life.
He is survived by his parents, Kim Cooks Collins and Todd Watson; his grandmothers, Carolyn and Sharon; his beloved son, Kimon; his brothers, Keenan, Khalil, Jayce, and Gabe; his sister, Jacoya; his godparents, Peachy and Tremayne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Burnett and Harold; his uncles, Sonny and Burnett Jr.; and his aunt, Michelle.
Michael’s legacy continues—in his son, in his music, and in all of us who carry his memory.
