Milton Smith Obituary

MILTON “PETE” SMITH was born December 29, 1933, in Waskom, TX as the fourth of nine children to DeMorise, Sr. and Iver V. Stephens Smith.

The family moved to Hallsville, TX in 1941 and there he grew up and was educated in the Rose Hill and Hallsville Galilee school system.

Pete, as he was affectionately known, moved to Royse City, TX in the mid-1950s and began his lifelong career as a cement contractor. He later moved to Garland, TX and Dallas, TX where Smith & Sons Cement Contractors was birthed. He was very well-known in the concrete industry and many of his works can be seen all over the Dallas, Fort Worth area.

Pete was a very PROUD, dedicated, hard-working man and could outwork guys half his age. He continued to show up on the job sites even when his health was failing. His favorite past time was hanging out and trash talking with the guys. Pete was a certified jokester and loved making people laugh. If you were ever in his presence, you would never forget.

He was married to Annie Willis Smith who preceded him in death along with his parents, DeMorise Sr. and Iver, bonus son; Charles Johnson, daughters; Virginia Faye Young, Vickie Smith Henderson and Alisha Smith, siblings; R.L. Smith, Hattie V. Dillard, Verdell Smith LaGrone, DeMorise Smith, Jr., Maurine Howard and Jimmy Smith.

Cherishing his memories are children, Willie Faye Smith Waggoner, Larry Smith (Vera), Alene Smith Reeves, Billy Smith (Sandy), Tony Smith, Sr. (Wanda) and Theresa Smith Newsome (Dale), sisters; Faye Edna Smith Taylor and Jessie Nell Smith, 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
