The loving journey of Nathan Ladson, Sr., age 83, affectionately called "Pops", by his family, began on March 26, 1941, in Beaufort, South Carolina to the parentage of the late Dan Ladson and Louise Green Ladson - he was their only child. On Friday, December 20, 2024 Nathan's bright light left this age to be with the Lord in glory.
Nathan fondly recalled as a boy fishing on Saint Mahanna Island, South Carolina and eating fish head stew with rice, prepared by his beloved grandmother, Hattie. Nathan briefly lived in New York City with his mother and grandmother. While in New York City, Nathan's mother, Louise Green Thompson, married Braze Thompson, "Papa", a WWiI veteran and the family moved to Laneville, Texas.
Nathan attended school in Laneville, Texas. He was outstanding in academics and athletics; he was salutatorian of his high school class. Nathan continued undergraduate studies at Prairie View A&M University, studying Industrial Engineering.
On a hot summer day in 1960, Nathan met the love of his life, Peggye Peirce, at a baseball game in Mayflower, Texas. Nathan and the late Pegeye Pierce Ladson were married for 33 years and from their union three children were born.
Nathan was always industrious, working since the age of eight and as an adult worked for 33 years at Stroh's Brewery of Longview, Texas.
Nathan's relationship with the Lord began at an early age where he was Sunday School Superintendent at Old Bethel Baptist Church of Laneville, Texas. Nathan attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Longview, Texas with his family and was a faithful deacon until he became ill. Nathan loved the Lord and we would often hear him say, "Thank You Jesus". Oh how we miss our beloved Pops but, now you can tell Jesus thank you for an eternity.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories children, daughters, Andrett Nelson (husband Gary Nelson) and Yevette Henderson (husband) Garnell Henderson; son, Nathan Ladson, Jr.; grandsons, Christian Ladson, Tyler Henderson, and Savion Ladson; great grand-daughters, Kailynn Ladson and Ni'Monii Henderson; sister-in-law, Ms. Carolyn Lacy; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
