Nathaniel Hewitt III Obituary

Our beloved Nathaniel Edrington Hewitt lII known as Mackie to his family transitioned to his new destiny on June 8, 2018.

He was born on July 12, 1965 to the late

Dr. Nathaniel Edrington Hewitt Jr. and Minnie Louise Christian Hewitt in Houston Texas.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Janel Yvette Hewitt and his son Richard Edrington Hewitt that he loved dearly.

His Sisters Denise Hewitt Chaplin (Willie) of Virginia beach VA.

Michelle Hewitt - Smith (James) of Greensboro NC.

and Brother Christopher Eric Hewitt of Winston-Salem North Carolina.

Aunt Amabel Compton of St. Croix. Cousins Colonel Keith Compton (Lisa), Kelly Compton, Crystal Compton, and  Dr. Yancy Sloane (Harriett).

His treasured Niece and nephew Elena Simone Chaplin, and Willie Christian Chaplin III.

He also leaves behind many Great-Aunts

Uncles and Cousins too numerous to mention.


Nate graduated from West Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem North Carolina then attended Winston-Salem State University prior to going into the Coast Guard to which he was discharged honorably after years of service.

He had a vast educational background achieving his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education , Master degree in instructional Technology as well as an EDS degree.

He  was in the end phase of completing his PhD in Computer Science prior to his illness impeding his studies.

Post military service he was employed by North Carolina Public Schools as well as various universities the last being Wiley College as the vice president of information systems and Technologies at Wiley College. Nate was a member of various professional organizations but he most loved Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.

His impact was very widespread and he will be truly missed by his family his children his niece and nephew and vast community that he's touched over many years.
