Othella Writt Obituary

Othella Marie Ingram Writt, a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the age of 90 in Longview, Texas. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

 

Born on August 9, 1934, in Longview, Texas, Othella was the beloved daughter of Jeffery Ingram and Verma Marie Howard, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sons Ronald Charles Writt, Billy Writt, and Jon Writt, as well as her daughters Jeanne Writt and Ramona Writt. Her brother, Horace Ingram, and sister, Girthalene Ingram Woods, also preceded her in passing.

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Monica Elayne Writt Chark of Baytown, Texas, and her son, Dennis Writt of Longview, Texas. Othella’s legacy continues through her 15 grandchildren: Jayson Writt, Jeremy Writt (Janice), Jerrod Writt, Herman "Chug" Writt, Jonathan Chark (Jennifer), Jeffrey Chark (Victoria), Justin Writt (Alicia), Jonnece Writt, Jon Mychal Writt (Monica), Raven Writt, Josiah Writt, Delandrick Writt, Donovan Thomas (Heather), Nicholas Writt, and J. Trinity Writt, as well as 26 great-grandchildren.

 

She also leaves behind two special daughters-in-law, Vicki Writt and Wanda Writt; a devoted nephew, Jerome Scott Ingram (Monica); and two “heart daughters,” Tabitha Whitaker and Roshawna Fudge. Her lifetime friends, Sharon Jackson and Francis Riley, along with a host of other relatives and dear friends, will forever hold her in their hearts.

 

Othella was a proud graduate of Mary C. Womack High School in Longview, Texas. She later pursued her passion for beauty and earned her cosmetology license from Hurd’s Beauty School in Marshall, Texas. She dedicated many years to her craft at Talk of the Town Beauty Salon before transitioning into retail, where she worked at Carolane’s Jewelers and ultimately retired from Mervyn’s.

A devoted woman of faith, Othella was a faithful warrior and missionary at Vivian Chapel C.M.E. Church in Longview, Texas. She was an avid sports fan, passionately supporting her beloved Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers. Above all, she will be remembered for her unwavering support, infectious smile, and ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved.
