Pastor John A. Gardner was born June 8, 1951 to Earnest S. Gardner, Sr. and Marie A. [Abron] Gardner in Dangerfield, Texas.
He was introduced to Christ at an early age where he joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Dangerfield, Texas. Pastor Gardner received his education in Pittsburg, Texas at Fredrick Douglas High School Class of 1969, upon finishing he worked at Lone Star Steel. He was co-owner of his truck company M & J Truck along with his wife Maggie Gardner. He loved to Preach God's Word and drive his truck.
Pastor Gardner served as pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas; Union Hill Baptist Church in Avinger, Texas, associate at New Hope Baptist Church in Dangerfield, Texas and was currently pastor of Gospel of Jesus Christ Missionary Baptist Church in Gladewater, Texas.
He helped to organize WBGW-'We Believe God's Word Full Gospel Outreach Association' and served as the Superintendent since its conception in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest Gardner, Sr. and Marie Gardner, two brothers Earnest Gardner, Jr. and Theardis Gardner, Sr., step son Cornelius Holman.
Pastor John Gardner leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife of 14 1/2 years Maggie Gardner; three sons Van [Kate] Gardner of Dallas, Tx., Rico[Kelly] Gardner of Dallas, Tx., Brandon Gardner of Dangerfield, Tx.; step-son Quince Holman of Dallas, Tx., step-daughter Ashley Latayette of Mt. Pleasant, Tx.; one daughter in law Sybil Holman of Houston, Tx., five granddaughters Amagine Gardner, Ashtyn Chambers, Paris Gardner, Sklar Grace Gardner, Addison Holman; two grandsons D'Odric Sykes and Brayden Holman; one brother Melvin Gardner of Oklahoma; two sisters Willie Marie [Hollis] Tennison, Shirley Marie Roan; sister-in-law Joan Gardner and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in law, friends and church family.
