Raul Castillo came to the United States at the very young age of 15. In that time, Ms. Tomasita as we knew her, took him under her wings and helped raise him. He loved to farm and take care of his animals. He never met a stranger. Raul was always hardheaded, (lol) and never liked people telling him what to do. If he liked you, he liked you, and if he didn't, he would tell you (lol).
Raul liked being around family. He enjoyed raising chickens, gathering the eggs, and would just give them away to people who needed them. He took in many animals, even though he didn't have room for them or the financial needs to take care of them. Raul was always helping others or giving people rides if they needed to go to the store. His favorite food of the many dishes cooked by his wife was "caldo de res video". Raul liked listening to his rancheras, especially Vicente Fernandez.
He had 6 children. His son Antonio Castillo Garcia, and his daughter, Martha Castillo Garcia both preceded him in death. His twin sister also passed away at birth.
Raul's memories are cherished by his daughters, Mary Lou, of Good Spring, TX, Lupe Carney and her husband Rudy, of Jacksonville, TX, Azucena Castillo of Tyler TX, and Erika Castillo of Jacksonville, TX; 17 grandkids, (3 of them whom he considered as his own kids), Samantha Beegley, Joel Castillo "Daniel", and Jose Castillo; 10 great-grandkids; 4 brothers, Celerino Castillo, Jose Castillo, Salvador Castillo, and Ismael Castillo; and many other relatives and dear friends.
