Royce Ray Dennis Sr., AKA FATMAN, a beloved father, brother, and friend, was born on September 9, 1951, in the Pine Grove Community, where he attended elementary school and later graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Jacksonville, TX.
On October 22, 2025, he gained eternal rest, from labor to reward.
He was born to the late Johnny Floyd and Mary Dennis and was preceded in death by three brothers: Earnest, Lawrence, and Roman Dennis, and one son, Royce Dennis Jr. II.
He is survived by his sister, Archa B. Johnson; his children, Royce Ray Dennis III (Canary) of Austin, TX, Floretta Curley (David) of Lewisville, TX, Shadaria Hatton (Terry), Shane Baker, and Shannon Baker, all of Jacksonville, TX; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family who will forever cherish his memories.
Royce was a member of Agape Christian Ministries in Austin, TX, where he served in the transportation ministry for many years. During the pandemic, Royce moved back to Jacksonville, TX, and became a member of Bowen’s Temple Church until his health failed.
Royce had a lifelong passion for riding motorcycles and driving fast cars, often finding joy and freedom on the open road. He was a truck driver for years, and his kind spirit, laughter, and love for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Though he has departed from this earthly life, his memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
