On September 9, 1932, Icer Ruth Lynn,  was born to Bobby and Sammie (Darling) Lynn of  Gilmer, TX. She was the first girl of nine children born to this union. She graduated from Bruce High School and attended Texas College for four years.

She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church-Lone Pine community,  where she sang in the choir. She later moved to Dallas, TX and where she attended Inspiring Body of Christ Church (IBOC), and later joined  Ambassadors for Christ Cross-Cultural Church Ministries, where she was a faithful member until she moved back to Longview and attended Rose Heights Church.

She lived a wonderful life, full of joy and happiness. She cherished  spending time with  her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins. and friends. She loved to cook and make sure everyone had something to eat. Ms. Ruth opened her house up to just about anyone that needed a place to stay. She loved to travel. When she became unable to attend church she watched Jimmy Swagger on TV and always loved saying praise God, praise God, praise God. Grandma Ruth loved attending her grandchildren extra curricular activities and sports activities. Some of things she loved to do were reading her bible, gardening, word search books, and loved watching the Hallmark family channel.
