On September 9, 1932, Icer Ruth Lynn, was born to Bobby and Sammie (Darling) Lynn of Gilmer, TX. She was the first girl of nine children born to this union. She graduated from Bruce High School and attended Texas College for four years.
She worked at Collins Radio, Lone Star Steel, and later worked at Home Health as a Home Care Assistant, thereafter she worked at Meals on Wheels.
She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church-Lone Pine community, where she sang in the choir. She later moved to Dallas, TX and where she attended Inspiring Body of Christ Church (IBOC), and later joined Ambassadors for Christ Cross-Cultural Church Ministries, where she was a faithful member until she moved back to Longview and attended Rose Heights Church.
She lived a wonderful life, full of joy and happiness.She cherished spending time with her siblings, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins. and friends. She loved to cook and make sure everyone had something to eat. Ms. Ruth opened her house up to just about anyone that needed a place to stay. She loved to travel. When she became unable to attend church she watched Jimmy Swagger on TV and always loved saying praise God, praise God, praise God. Grandma Ruth loved attending her grandchildren extra curricular activities and sports activities. Some of things she loved to do were reading her bible, gardening, word search books, and loved watching the Hallmark family channel.
Ms. Ruth Lynn was married to the late Eddie Ross Sterling. To this union three children were born, Anita, Arethia, and David. She later married the late Ronnie Davis and to this union one daughter, Tamala, was born.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Sammie (Darling) Lynn; seven brothers, Joseph, Jonathan, David, Isaac, Jacob, John, Anderson Lynn; and one sister: Bobbie Ruth Lynn.
Ruth leaves to honor her legacy four children, Anita (Travis) Bowie of Lone Star, TX, Arethia (Earl) Roberts of Longview, TX, Davis Ross Sterling of Gilmer, TX, and Tamala Davis of Frisco, TX; a great host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sister-in-laws, Betty Lynn, Mary Lynn, Barbara Lynn, and Linda Lynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
