Mrs. Thelma Johnson Mergerson, beloved daughter of the late Thelmon and Eva Johnson, was born on April 6, 1951, in Dallas, Texas. She was a woman whose life was defined by grace, kindness, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone blessed to know her.
Thelma received her education through the Dallas School System, the Bethlehem School System, and George Washington Carver High School. At an early age, she accepted the Lord as her Savior, nurturing a deep and abiding faith that remained the foundation of her life. Her love for God was evident in her character, her compassion, and the quiet strength with which she cared for her family.
On August 9, 1969, Thelma married the love of her life, Mr. Alvin Mergerson, a young and handsome man from Quanah, Texas. Together, they built a life rooted in love and devotion, making Dallas their home. Thelma was known for her gentle presence, her warm heart, and a voice as soft and soothing as a melody. She carried herself with the poise of a queen and the elegance of a true lady, reflecting the beautiful example set by her mother, Eva.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Thelmon and Eva Johnson, and her brother, Charles Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Alvin Mergerson; her son, Terrance Mergerson; her stepson, Anthony Mergerson; and her treasured granddaughter, Rebekah Mergerson, who held a very special place in her heart. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Pearl and Vickey (Calvin), along with a cherished circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Thelma’s life was a beautiful reflection of gentleness, love, and quiet dignity. Though she is no longer with us in body, the love she gave so freely will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Her memory will be treasured always.
