Verlena Craven was granted her angel wings on August 27, 2021.
Ms. Craven was born on January 01, 1932 in Louisiana, to Bonnie Vesta Winn and Johnny Pipkins. She was preceded in death by daughter Pamela Witt, sons Terry Sparkman Sr and Leon Craven, both parents and eight siblings.
Verlena attended High School in Louisiana where she played basketball.
She enjoyed watching football and basketball. She loved eating fried catfish and she looked forward to her personal chocolate pie every year for her birthday. Verlena didn’t mind telling you exactly how she felt about you or any situation. She was very outgoing and pleasant. Even when she wasn’t feeling her best, she always kept a smile on her face, a good spirit and attitude.
She is survived by her three daughters: Tammy (Charles) Lewis, Barbara Sparkman and Bertha Butler all of Longview. Sister, Doris Starling; Grandchildren: Felecia Evans, Cedric (Erica)Sherow, Monta (Kayla) Sherow, Vernetta Redwine-Johnson, Philip Redwine, Katrena (Henry) Alford, Kerry Sherow, Melinda (Terrance) Campbell, LaMarkous (Rachel) Butler, Melvin Butler Jr., Gerald Butler, Dexter (Brittany) Sparkman, Adam Sparkman, Terry Sparkman Jr., Terrance Sparkman, Cherelle Sparkman, Leon Craven Jr., Brandon Craven and Quintina Craven and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
